Happy Tails

Please do not breed or buy while shelter dogs die. Lucky for these guys (and this is only half of them!), PMAR saved them before the light left their eyes. If you are looking for a dog or know someone, please open your heart and your home to a rescue and please support your local animal shelter. It's hard work, but totally worth it and CANNOT be done without many many angels.

:-)Third Chance for Eddy

4117251Almost a year ago, my 20 y.o. son asked me to help him get a dog. I'd told him I would when he was out on his own and someplace he could have a dog. We went to the animal shelter, and the only dog my son could 'see' was Eddy (then named King). He did look at other dogs, but kept coming back to Eddy. We took him home that day. I have to admit, I was smitten, too.
A few months later, my son had to move back home, with Eddy. Poor Eddy has had a hard life for a guy only just now a year old. He had been at the shelter twice. The first time, when his original owners were told they couldn't have him in their rental. He got adopted out quickly, and was gone for 4 months. The adoptive parents said they, too, were told they couldn't keep him. He'd been there about a month when he went home with us.  Then, about a month after Eddy and my son moved in with me, my other son, and 3 other dogs, he got loose one afternoon. Some very, very mean man kicked him and yelled at him and he ran. My son was upset. I was crying myself to sleep at night, wondering if my sweet little boy was safe. Was he being taken care of? Were people being kind to him. I put out flyers, contacted pitty groups, Craig's list. I even paid one of those dog amber alert sites. I have to say, by the end of December, I  had just about given up hope. Eddy had been gone since Sept. 18. It was so cold outside, I feared if he had, somehow survived, he would soon freeze to death.

But on Dec. 29, we got a call from the Kankakee county animal control -- 100 miles from home. Eddy was there. They'd scanned his chip and called me. Eddy had grown. He had a very tight collar on and it looked like something had been attached to it and broken off. Apparently, someone was starting the training process to fight my sweet boy. He would have ended up a bait dog because there's not a mean or aggressive bone in his body, and  he's neutered.  The first thing I did was take that hateful collar off of him. He knew us. He literally jumped and squealed when he saw us. I don't mean to go on and on, but I'm so grateful to have our special guy back, and Eddy is so clearly tickled to be back home where he's loved and cared for  that we want to help you with your special pibbles.

Hi, I would love to share my wonderful experience dealing with Pibbles & More Animal Rescue.

We acquired about a puppy we saw online and were asked to send in a very detailed application which I thought was great because they actually cared how these rescue pups would be taken care of. Our application was followed up on promptly, we were sent additional pictures of the pup and set up with a home inspection. Lynda came by on that Sunday afternoon and we were approved for "Mousse"  (who was renamed Diesel). We were told he would then be neutered, vet checked, wormed, age appropriate shots, checked for fleas, micro chipped. By the next Monday "Mousse"  was at our house in the arms of my 16 year old son that had a smile on his face all day. The pup was clean, healthy, happy, very playful, and very well socialized.  All his paperwork was in a folder, his collar came with tags for his microchip and we couldn't be happier! I recommend this rescue highly.
Sincerely, NYC firefighters family. Long Island N.Y.

Princess is doing great. I can't begin to tell you how much we love her.  We've taken her for a few walks in the neighborhood and she has been fine with other dogs and people.

She has such a great personality.  She has been great with my cats and, more surprisingly, they have been very good with her.  No hissing!  We went over to my neighbors, who have a dog and Princess and Zachary had a great time together.  She hasn't had any accident in the house and she has been really good with a crate.  She really is a treasure.  We feel so lucky to have her.

Luna Belle going home 5.22.2011...She is wonderful, she was very hungry when we got home, she licked her bowl clean. Luna is the sweetest girl, she follows me all over the house, and she wasn't happy about being crated last night. We don't let them on the furniture so  it's going to be a struggle. But mamma always wins :)

Thank you again for all of your efforts in getting her to us. You people bring alot of love to alot of hearts.

Thank you, Veronica.

I got Brindy off you guys back in 2010. Here's some updated pics so you can see how she's doing. I love her so much. Thanks again!

Cracker

Here is a picture of our rottie girl Luna (formerly known as Cracker) with her big brother Jake.

We have been on many walks in the woods and she loves the snow.  She is doing a great job with house training, learning to walk on the leash and some basic commands. I spend a lot of time on the floor with her. She loves to flop across my lap.  It's so funny.  She is just a big rottie love and she makes us all so very happy!!

Thanks again for your help with the adoption process!
